Advertisements

Pocket Specs is donationware. I hope that it is found so useful that people using it would donate some money. If any donation is >= $50 USD, I would allow such donors to show a tiny text advertisement that would be shown when Pocket Specs is run. NOTE: Advertisements would ONLY be shown when Pocket Specs is not building code! That means, when Pocket Specs is run without any arguments that it can use; it will then showcase one (and only one) advertisement. Algorithm The advertisements are displayed in random order. The probability of an advertisement shown would be as per the calculated probability based on the amount donated. For e.g. Suppose there are 3 advertisers who have donated >= $50 USD Person 'A' = 50 Person 'B' = 100 Person 'C' = 50 In the above example; the probability of Person 'A's advert being shown will be 50/200 i.e. 25% ... Person 'B' = 100/200 i.e. 50% and person 'C' would be again 25% ... These probabilities are calculated dynamically just-in-time i.e. if it so happens a new advertisement got registered just before those three were run through the algorithm, then that fourth one would also be considered. House advertisement is always in the queue! Note that a tiny message regarding this advertisement feature of Pocket Specs would always be in the queue. It will be given a probability 0.5% lower than the lowest probability calculated above. If that works out to a value that's less than zero, then the house advertisement would be given a probability of 1%; and once that value is reached, all the others' probabilities would get re-adjusted pro-rata.

Conditions of Use

The advertisement can only be text. You can insert links in plain format (i.e not HTML <a href=''>...</a>) There can be a maximum of 3 lines (i.e. 2 embedded "\n") It has to respect our terms of service and privacy clauses. Only messages pertaining to the software or computer hardware industry are permitted. That means one cannot put up messages regarding dating in there; for example. I reserve the right to reject advertisements that are fake, spreads false news, claims without evidence, or can cause harm or panic. The donation amount will never be returned in any case.

Each advertisement would be available for distribution from our server only for 90 days. That's a hard-stop. If you want your message to be in the queue for longer periods, please email our team at [e-mail]
